Wednesday, May 20th – The Circus and the Suffrage Movement @ 2:00 pm

This will be a continuation of the terrific work done in Miami County following the World War I Doughboys and the evolution of women’s right to vote. The Circus was a travelling city and saw what was happening in different parts of the country. While there was no such thing as televised news back then, the word of mouth travelled to all corners. The Barnum & Bailey’s Greatest Show on Earth actually had a Suffragette Group on the show. May Wirth was a world renowned Bareback rider on Ringling Bros and then on the combined Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey¬† Circus. She is also an inductee in the Circus Hall of Fame of Greats. Circus Concessions will be available. This will be a FREE admission event.
